Stunning oil on canvas of the clipper ‘St Mary’s Bay’ in full sail. ‘St Mary’s Bay’ was a 1114 ton barque rigged iron vessel, built in the port of Glasgow in 1886. Her official number was 93294. She was lost in 1908 off Taltal, Chile having sailed from Newcastle, New South Wales with a cargo of coal. This painting shows what I believe to be the Eddystone lighthouse and Seaton’s stump, 8 miles off Plymouth, Devon in the background. The painting measures 23.5″ x 39″. Having been cleaned, re-varnished and re-framed in a Frinton frame it is now ready to hang. This is a high impact painting!! Free delivery UK mainland. POA.
